Frequently Asked Questions

  • I just submitted an inquiry. What next?

Once I receive your inquiry through our website, I follow up via your preferred contact method. Then, I use the email you provided to send you a booking form. Should you choose to book with me, you'll get an invoice deposit for 30% the price of your chosen Tier along with a contract to secure your date! About a week away from your big day, you will get an automated email with flower maintenance and drop off (or shipping) instructions. Once I have your flowers, I start preserving right away. Finally, a couple weeks after event or wedding mayhem calms down, you’ll get an order form to fill out more detials like design, frame, and add-on projects.

  • How do I get my flowers to you?

There are several options for bouquet drop-off. The most popular is direct drop-off to my home office in south Holland, either the day following the event or the closest business day (usually Monday). It is common for a family member or someone from the wedding party to take charge of this responsibility by delivering your flowers to me on your behalf! If you are over an hour and a half away, I recommend priority shipping; instructions are included in the email sent a week before your event. Lastly, I offer direct pick-up for a $75 travel and convenience fee within a 30 mile radius of my office (Grand Rapids, Grand Haven, and South Haven are some common places).

  • How long will my project take?

Proper flower preservation is not a quick or straight forward process. You can expect your project to take an average of anywhere from 12-16 weeks, depending on the time of year. Rest assured that I am doing my best to carefully attend to your precious florals, and you can always reach out to request a progress update!

  • What does flower pressing entail?

When I receive your flowers, the process includes several stages: First, I must deconstruct every flower petal by petal and put into the press. Once dried, the petals must be re-constructed into their original form. Next, the flowers are individually color-corrected using three or more art mediums if the client has chosen to include this. Finally, I take the re-constructed flowers and create a piece of art! After a final buffing and dusting of the frame glass, I securely package your project and ship it back to you, or prepare it for pick-up.

  • What do the 3D projects entail?

For 3D projects, I carefully trim and submerge your flowers in professional grade silica gels. The gels must be activated to re-use, which takes 1-2 hours and must be done in several batches (this can be an all-day process!) After they are finished drying, they must be lifted out of the gels individually and brushed to remove all remaining silica sand particles. Then, if a client has opted in for color correction, a mixture of three or more art mediums are used to color-correct each flower to its original shade. Finally, the flowers are glued securely into a shadow box frame or glass dome and packaged safely to ship to you (or to be picked up).

  • What tier and style is best for me?

Here is a breakdown to help you make a decision:

Tier 1:The budget-friendly choice that provides a smaller, yet lovely memento for those wanting to capture the main essence of their special flowers.
Tier 2: The classic piece. This is great for those wanting to preserve the majority of their bouquet in its natural state.
Tier 3: The luxury package. This is perfect for those wanting to capture every detail of their bouquet through a thorough preservation of every flower and added color enhancement, designed in our largest frame.

Pressed: Mimics more of a traditional art piece and might blend in best with other wall art. Easier to transport, and suitable for those wanting an eclectic design.
3D: Good for those wanting more of an exact replica style of their flowers as they were on the event day. Preserves the original shapes of the flowers in a shadow box frame about 3” deep.
